Current vice Mayor in charge of economic affairs Thaddee Tuyizere has been appointed acting Mayor of Kamonyi District following the departure of Alice Kayitesi who was, last week, promoted to Governor of the southern Province.
During the handover ceremony, which took place today July 14, 2020, both leaders expressed their gratitude to the national leadership especially to HE Paul Kagame for the trust, and pledged to work tirelessly towards socio-economic transformation of the people they are entrusted to.
Tuyizere has been serving as the vice Mayor of Kamonyi in charge of economic affairs since January 2016.
On July 7, President Paul Kagame appointed Alice Kayitesi as Governor of the Southern Province, replacing Emmanuel Gasana who was suspended at the end of May over accountability related offences.
Until then, Kayitesi had been serving as the Mayor of Kamonyi District in Southern Province since 2017.
