The management of Kibungo Referral Hospital (KRH) has organized three-day workshop for staff members to keep enhancing the capacity building among hospital workers for the sake of improved service delivery.
The workshop, conducted between August 10-12, 2022 at Silent Hill Hotel in Kayonza District, brought together 53 staff members in total, covering various topics namely: overview of Quality Improvement (QI) and accreditation journey in Rwandan HFs; Health quality and Safety program; Hospital accreditation standards; Effective communication; Introduction to C.C program; Hospital safety program and introduction to IPC standards precautions; Health information management and setting indicators.
Among other covered topics included Efficient resources management; Introduction to financial resources management skills; EMR performance and management; compliance to clinical protocols; staff performance management, laws and regulations; Introduction to leadership and management; Quality improvement methods; Quality improvement project development; Quality improvement music; Review of some standards and P&Ps; Review of accreditation supportive committee ToRs; and Effective meeting.
Dr. Gahima John, Director General of Kibungo Referral Hospital (KRH) urged participants to make good use of such a capacity building opportunity in a way that leads to quality improvement for a sustained health care provision.
Participants relished active interaction through open discussions on hospital performance, basically regarding the current situation, challenges and projection for improvement.
The workshop was organized in line with the ‘Hospital Accreditation Standards’, a strategy put in place by the Ministry of Health to improve the quality and safety for staff and clients – which, accordingly, involves staff capacity building among the required standards.
