Global Fund needs 18 million US dollars to keep off major conditions like TB, malaria and HIV Aids.
Global fund is an international non-government organization that sponsors different activities aimed at fighting against HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Every five years, Global Fund organizes event in different countries all over the world to solicit funds to combat those diseases in the next five years worldwide.
Last week, global Fund held an event in Kigali with aim of mobilizing funds to be used to finance a budget of 2024 to 2026.
In partnership with Government of Rwanda, private sectors and allied non-government, Global is running the campaigns especially in African countries to encourage all willing partners to contribute for the successful of the program.
On May 5, 2023 Global Fund and its sponsors, partners and collaborators held meeting in Kigali – Rwanda to organize campaigns and motivate every bodied man to be catalyst for good health to everyone.
It is intended that this budget will help to reduce at least 64% of total deaths, to strengthen health sectors in countries to get prepared for the future pandemics. This budget will also reduce incidences of these diseases at the rate of 58% and curb the death burden from 4 million in 2020 to 950 thousand in 2026 and to meet fifth goal of SDGs concerned with health and social development.
The Chairperson of global Fund in Rwanda, Innocent Cyiza stated “This event has great advantage to Rwandan population because, the organisation spent greater than 191million Rwf to support healthcare services and treatment for these diseases in Rwanda”.
He added that everyone should support this campaign financially to offer continuous management services and eradication of HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Its 7th time for fundraising event happens in various countries after the decline of economic due the Covid-19 pandemic breakdown and war between Ukraine and Russia. Thus, we need to put a great effort project implementation as it was reported by the chairman of Rwanda NGOs Forum on HIV/AIDS and Health Promotion, Muramira Bernard.
He mentioned that “This solicited funds are utilized to purchase medicines, mosquito nets, Ambulance cars and enormous monitoring and laboratory materials and equipment”.
Furthermore, he said “We have more problems than before as Covid-19 and insecurity are contained, that is why everybody, government and partners must contribute to support countries with low capacity from low- and middle-income countries.
Cyiza said that they are various pedagogies and channels to rise budget through the collaboration Ambassadors and unceasing campaigns worldwide.
Project manager in ministry of health, Dr Theophile Dushime, requested every patient Rwandan to provide as exclusive support to adhere to provided medical advises and services.
Dr Dushime highlighted that “As usual will pool in its financial contribution in different activities that will be launched by President of united states of America, Joe Biden”.
In recent fundraising campaign took place in France led by President Emmanuel Macron, government of Rwanda provided 2.5 billion Rwf.
Global Fund started in 2002 and supported more than 44 million of people all the world to fight against Tuberculosis.
