Emmanuel Ntakiyimana targets long-distance running

Emmanuel Ntakiyimana (Crouch), mostly recognized as a 400m runner is set to start long-distance running races, starting from half-marathon (21 km) at the approaching 2022 Kigali International Peace Marathon.

Speaking to Impamba journalist, Ntakiyimana said he has been training in Kenya at the Iten sports grounds, mostly known for hosting different professional racers in need for training facilities.

Talking about his aim, Ntakirutimana said: “My aim is to do my best at the standard of both the East African region and the higher international level”.

Emmanuel Ntakiyimana holds the national record in 400m, achieved during the Uganda National Athletics Championships held in 2016, where he clocked 47.08 seconds.

Ntakiyimana’s career was graced by APR Athletic club, following his participation in different inter-schools’ sports competitions.

Outside athletics, Ntakiyimana, 33, is an alumnus of the East Africa School of Aviation in Kenya, thanks to the sponsorship of Soroptimist International.
