Students, hospitalized patients, office workers and residents are complaining about the noise orchestrated by daytime and nighttime noise in the city of Bunia, Capital of Ituri province in Democratic Republic of Congo. This noise is in violation of the measures taken by the mayor.
Deafening music in the ears of residents and passers-by all day long and at night is the noisy atmosphere observed in the city of Bunia.
This noise is produced by the owners of bars, nightclubs, churches and commercial agents who advertise certain products by motorized caravan.
Residents of Bunia are asking the authorities to enforce the law because this noise pollution affects the health of some and the intellectual performance of others.
As Radio Okapi broadcasted in its story; for some public and private service workers, these noises annoy them and prevent them from concentrating at work.
Students from the University of Bunia who are preparing for the second session are issuing an alert to local authorities.
The Urban police commander, Senior Commissioner Abeli Mwangu recalls that a decision on the matter was taken by the mayor. He warns these noise makers under penalty of being arrested by the police.
