Via his X, President of Republic of Rwanda His Excellence Paul Kagame; announced that he had talks with his colleague of Angola, Joào Lourenço, it happened on the last night of 30 to 31, 2025.

President Kagame and Joào Lourenço, who is the mediator in the long-standing insecurity in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), they discussed the problem and the permanent solution that would solve it permanently.

The leaders of the two countries have committed to work with others on the African continent to find solutions, through the establishment of formal relations.

These talks took place shortly after the AFC/M23 coalition, captured the city of Goma in the DRC after heavy fighting, some of the heads of state said that Rwanda supports the opposition of the DRC regime, while Rwanda denies these allegations.

At the Easter African Community (EAC)’s meeting on Issue of DRC, held on January 29, 2025, President Kagame expressed that some of the heads of states are silent on the issue due to and their interests, regardless of the consequences they felt it would have.

President Kagame also returned to some of the EAC countries, which are allied with the FDRL, which consists of those who are criminals of the genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994, the Mercenaries and others, and said that this did not solve the problem as they thought, but that is what they are seeing now.
