The Sober Club has launched an innovative program aimed at fostering entrepreneurship opportunities for international students. This initiative combines cultural and educational exchanges with practical industry experience to enhance employability and professional growth.
The Summer School Program brings together international and local students from Rwandan universities, offering a platform for cultural and educational exchange. Students learn from each other’s diverse experiences and backgrounds.
Participants visit various learning institutions, including factories, industrial zones, and service providers. These visits are enriched with interactive activities like games and storytelling to enhance learning.
The initiative includes internship programs that provide students with hands-on experience in various industries. These internships aim to improve employability and professional development by offering real-world experience.
Beyond educational components, Sober Trips offer exclusive travel experiences for Sober Club members. These trips allow students to explore tourist areas in Rwanda and beyond, including lakes, forests, parks, and volcanoes.
Dr. Gamariel Mbonimana, Director of Research at the East African University of Rwanda (EAUR) and CEO of Sober Club, highlighted the transformative potential of this initiative. “Our vision at Sober Club is to create a healthier, more conscious, and vibrant future for all people. This initiative is part of our commitment to fostering a global community of empowered and entrepreneurial individuals,” said Dr. Mbonimana.
He explained the program’s rationale: “By mixing international and local students, we encourage a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. The educational visits and activities provide practical insights and inspiration. The internships offer a bridge between academic knowledge and real-world application, enhancing students’ career prospects.”

Dr. Mbonimana also emphasized the importance of the Sober Trips, noting that they provide a unique opportunity for students to unwind and explore the natural beauty of Rwanda and its neighboring regions. “Traveling together strengthens bonds among students and broadens their horizons, making them more adaptable and culturally aware,” he added.
Sober Club has established a network with local and international universities, companies, organizations, embassies, NGOs, philanthropists, and churches, aiming to expand these connections further. The initiative reflects the club’s vision of promoting sobriety and consciousness through enriching and empowering experiences.
As the program gains momentum, Sober Club invites students and educational institutions worldwide to join this transformative journey. “We believe in the power of collaboration and shared learning. Together, we can create a vibrant future filled with entrepreneurial spirit and innovation,” Dr. Mbonimana explained.
This initiative by Sober Club promises to be a catalyst for change, offering international students a unique blend of education, experience, and exploration, while fostering a global community of future entrepreneurs.
